Fouzia Younis, a British diplomat who was born in Pakistan, has been named the UK’s consul general in Toronto, making her the first Muslim woman to lead a British diplomatic mission.
On Twitter, Younis, who is currently in charge of communications and public diplomacy at the British High Commission in Islamabad, stated, ” privilege to serve as the British Consul General of His Majesty in Toronto.

Younis expressed gratitude to her father for “dropping me off at Digbeth Coach Station at 4 in the morning so I could get to my work interviews Pakistani origin The first Muslim British to lead a diplomatic mission for the UK is Fouzia Younis..”
In addition, she paid homage to her late mother, who “stood up for 18-year-old me to go to university and waited at bus stops to walk me home through dark streets.”
